Meet David Prutton - our charity patron

Updated: Jul 25, 2021

We are thrilled to announce David Prutton has agreed to be the charity Patron for Alfie’s Wish.

David is a former professional footballer turned presenter/pundit/commentator on various platforms. David’s career began at Nottingham Forest in 1998 before a move to the Premier League with Southampton in 2003. In a career that lasted 15 years, he was privileged enough to play for clubs of the stature of Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry City amongst others along the way, racking up almost 500 appearances at first team level. Following his retirement from playing he has since moved into football broadcast media, a career change he finds far less strenuous!

We have known David for many years and knowing his strong family values he was our first obvious choice. David and his family always had time to chat with Alfie and followed his journey throughout with kind words of support to us all. David is a father to two children and knows the importance of family time which is the essence of life.

David said, “When I was approached by Charlotte and James to be involved in Alfie’s Wish, I had absolutely no hesitation at all. Alfie was quite simply a ray of sunlight. A lovely, brave little boy who was a much loved credit to his family. Now these amazing people want to help others who find themselves in these most heart-breaking of situations, to offer support, solace and respite from the day to day battles they face. It’s a legacy for their gorgeous and courageous little Alfie, to help those truly in need and I couldn’t be more honoured or prouder to be a part of it.”
